Westland Mineral Sands (WMS) is proud to announce the appointment of Cameron McRae to its Board of Directors.
“Cameron brings over 30 years of mining experience to the business, having held senior executive roles with global mining giants, including Rio Tinto,” says WMS Chair Duncan Hardie.
“His extensive experience in strategic mining operations and global project management through studies and construction will enhance the company’s capabilities in driving long-term value for our stakeholders.
“Mr McRae’s leadership roles in multiple large-scale mining projects across Asia, Africa, and Australia have led to significant improvements in safety, productivity, and environmental performance,” says Hardie.
WMS Managing Director Ray Mudgway says McRae’s involvement in both large-scale mine development and operational efficiency will be invaluable as WMS expands its operations.
“Cameron’s appointment aligns with our commitment to responsible, sustainable mining practices and the creation of lasting value for the West Coast community. His knowledge and track record in integrating sustainability within mining projects will bolster our company’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
“He joins an impressive critical minerals team that includes WMS General Manager Tim Chase, General Manager Environmental and Sustainability Heather McKay, Operations and Technical Services Manager Andy O’Dowd and Principal Geologist Lauren Farmer.
“Together this team will help drive the company’s growth, ensuring operational excellence and a focus on building an intergenerational business for the West Coast and New Zealand,” says Mudgway.
Mr McRae takes his place on the WMS board effective immediately.
